2024 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize

We are delighted to announce that Alexander Dunn (Georgia Tech) has been awarded the prestigious 2024 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize. This honor will be presented at the International Conference on Number Theory, which will take place from December 20-22, 2024, at SASTRA University in Kumbakonam, South India—Ramanujan’s hometown.

Dunn is being recognized for his outstanding contributions to analytic number theory, particularly his joint work with Maksym Radziwill in solving the Kummer-Patterson Conjecture on bias related to cubic Gauss sums. His work represents a significant breakthrough in the field.

The SASTRA Ramanujan Prize, established in 2005, is awarded annually to young mathematicians for their contributions to areas influenced by Ramanujan’s work. Previous recipients include renowned mathematicians such as Manjul Bhargava (2005), Terence Tao (2006), Akshay Venkatesh (2008), Peter Scholze (2013), James Maynard (2014), and Maryna Viazovska (2017).

We extend our congratulations to Alexander Dunn for this remarkable achievement, and we are proud that our colleague, Krishna Alladi, chairs the award committee.
