Eric Wolfe Memorial Scholarship Established

The University of Florida Department of Mathematics is pleased to announce the establishment of the Eric Wolfe Memorial Scholarship, made possible through a generous endowed gift from Eric’s family.

The scholarship honors the memory of Eric Wolfe, a University of Florida alumnus who joined the mathematics faculty at Coral Shores High School in the Florida Keys in 1993.

Eric’s interests extended well beyond the classroom. He played varsity baseball in high school and pitched in the final game of the 1987 state championship. At Coral Shores, he coached both baseball and football and was deeply committed to his students and athletes. He also had a great love of fishing and the outdoors.

The endowment will support undergraduate scholarships in the Department of Mathematics, with preference given to students who demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities, including athletics. This preference reflects the many interests and commitments that shaped Eric’s life and honors his dedication to education, athletics, and life beyond the classroom.

The Department of Mathematics is deeply grateful for this generous gift from Eric’s family and for honoring Eric’s legacy through support of future generations of mathematics students.
