Glenn Bruda Named 2025 Goldwater Scholar
Glenn Bruda, a third-year mathematics major, has been named a 2025 Goldwater Scholar. This prestigious national scholarship recognizes top undergraduate students in STEM fields who demonstrate strong potential for research careers. At UF, Glenn has distinguished himself through academic excellence, leadership as treasurer of the University Math Society and multiple co-authored research publications.

Connor Panish Receives 2025 CLAS Excellence Award
Connor Panish, a graduating senior in the Department of Mathematics, was selected as one of four recipients of the 2025 College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) Excellence Award. Established in 2017, this award honors graduating seniors who exemplify the college’s highest standards of academic achievement, leadership and service. Recipients are nominated by faculty across the college. Connor’s recognition reflects his exceptional contributions both in and beyond the classroom.
2024 Putnam Competition
Under the guidance of faculty advisor Professor Kevin Keating, several UF students earned strong rankings in the 2024 Putnam Mathematical Competition. Samuel Kim placed in the top 101–200, while Julian Carvajal, Samuel Cohen, Jake Frazer, and Alejandro Leon were ranked in the 201–500 range.
The William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition is a prestigious annual mathematics competition for undergraduate college students in the United States and Canada. This achievement demonstrates the exceptional mathematical abilities of our undergraduate students and the quality of preparation they receive in our program.
