Associate Professor Calistus Ngonghala has been selected as a 2024–2025 Harvard Radcliffe Fellow, joining a distinguished cohort at one of the world’s premier academic fellowship programs. This year’s class marked the 25th anniversary of the Harvard Radcliffe Institute, with the fellowship remaining highly competitive across all disciplines.
During his year in residence at Radcliffe, Dr. Ngonghala advanced his research on infectious disease modeling, focusing on integrating human behavior, economic factors, environmental change and spatial dynamics. His project addresses the complexities of disease transmission in real-world contexts, with the aim of informing more effective control strategies and equitable health policies, particularly in climate-sensitive regions.

In addition to the Radcliffe Fellowship, Dr. Ngonghala was appointed visiting associate professor of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School for the academic year, further reflecting his interdisciplinary approach to infectious disease research and its global health applications.
