Joseph Vattamattam, a proud graduate of the University of Florida’s Department of Mathematics, is the co-founder and president of Healthmap Solutions, a leading population health management company focused on kidney care. This year, Joe and his wife Miriam made a generous gift to support the department — a contribution that reflects both gratitude and vision.
“UF and the Math department helped me gain access to incredible post-graduate opportunities, and I wanted to return the favor,” he shared.
Joe credits his time at UF with launching his professional journey. As a student, he secured an actuarial internship at Deloitte & Touche through a campus career fair. While he ultimately pursued a different path, that experience set the stage for a successful and wide-ranging career — one that has led to entrepreneurship and executive leadership in the healthcare industry.
His advice for current math students? “If you’re an analytical thinker, you are qualified to do almost anything. I have applied those concepts and capabilities to become an entrepreneur. Not an obvious path forward… you have more options than you think.”
We are honored to recognize Joe’s generosity and proud to feature him as an exemplar of how a mathematics degree can serve as a foundation for bold and unexpected careers. To learn more about his work, visit here.
