The conference “Surfaces in Banyuls” will be “on the occasion of Prof. Phil Boyland’s 70th birthday”. The conference is a natural sequel to Surfaces in Montevideo (2012), Surfaces in Sao Paulo (2014), Surfaces in Luminy (2016) and Surfaces in Bedlewo (2018).
The study of dynamical systems on surfaces goes back to Poincaré and Birkhoff, with motivations from celestial mechanics. The development of topological tools allows the description of the dynamics from a global viewpoint, and these methods are also fruitful for studying differentiable systems. This conference will give the opportunity to share the latest advances and new methods of the subject.
The conference will take place the week of 6-8 December 2023 at Observatoire Océanologique de Banyuls-su-Mer .
